One thing that makes the 905 board awesome are some of diverse career paths chosen by the members, so I thought I'd make a thread where we can post pictures of what we do at work, work we've done, pictures of ourselves working or even our places of employment.
I'll start it off with some pictures of a claw foot bathtub I refinished earlier this week in a customers home.
(scroll sideways to see the end result)

and one that I've been working on for a display

My last job was really cool, I worked for a multinational company that sold scales (and papes and pipes and percolaters and grinders and..). Twice a year there's a huge general merch show in Las Vegas, and both times they took me, which was super amazing. Sadly I can't find any good pics online and didn't take any, but it was held at the Sands Expo at the Venetian, which is 1.8 million square feet packed to the tee's with booths. There were I believe around 4000 exhibitors. One of our neighbours was a company of young college kids with a product called the ShotBong. I had to walk by for each smoke break, and had a bongshot of vokda cran on the way out, one on the way in... It was lots of fun. Lots of the booths had samples of those 6, 8, 9 hour energy drinks so if you weren't tipsy you were definitely wired.
We also got to walk a trade show called http://www.champslv.com/ which boasts some of the absolute best glass blowers in the US. I don't smoke weed anymore but the experience was still totally unreal, and probably one of the cooler things I've been involved with. -
I'm with Sara on this one. I type at my desk. Sometimes I use the fax machine, though.
-
I generally work from bed, sometimes my desk, and if I feel 'crazy' I jump over to the couch.
-
I work on Movies!

I work at a Chapters.... it's pretty sweet.. but you don't need a picture to see what it's like...

I spend most of my time working from a small corner desk at Ryerson, but this is where I spent roughly 80% of my waking hours when at home:

The blanket on top of the filing cabinet is for my cat to hang out on, otherwise she likes to sit directly on top of whatever I'm working on. The desk cabinet is filled to the brim with pens, paper clips, highlighters, binder clips, tape, post-its and note paper, and beside my computer is five days worth of to-do lists. The bulletin board doesn't even begin to reflect the number of schedules I follow, because most of them are kept online and I haven't gotten around to printing them. Also, all those books atop the desk? Every one is about grammar, style and usage, except for a couple that are just about journalism. My "home office" is really just a corner of my living room, but I quite like it, and spend a lot of time there. Unless I'm writing something intense, like the first draft of what would become a 6,000-word feature story. Then I work here:

What do I do? A little of this, that, a smidgen of this, and a hell of a lot of this. Not much of this, though. Que sera sera.

Here are pictures that illustrate a few of the jobs I do/have done (in chronological order:

I built dinosaurs

I sold vegan baked goods.and I work at a recording studio now, but don't have any pictures of me there. However, I had the chance to sing a small harmony part on Circa Survive's new record (my little part will probably either be buried in the mix or omitted completely, but nevertheless, the guys wrote this little note to me on the lyrics sheet.

I work for TIFF. Like any job it has its ups and downs. This is the most recent thing I've done that's actually in market right now. Sorry these aren't the best photos of the decade, I snapped em real quick a second ago.

the company i work at basically has one floor of a small building. there's two small rooms and the rest is completely open with just desks + 20 people or so.
when we first moved into this space i was kind of worried about how open it was, with no dividers at all. it's worked out good though.
so yeah. 20 + people in a fairly large room at desks with a laptop + a monitor. that's about it.

I'm a freelance AV technician (Most of the time).
Most events I just do set up and tear down. This was a Promise Keepers of Canada event at the Hershey Center back in November. For this particular event I was a camera op and got to do a bit of switching as well.

I'm an account coordinator at an experiential/promotional marketing agency. Around Christmas if you saw a Nescafe in-store sampling program, I did that.
If you work in a downtown Toronto office, you might be seeing the Kellogg's campaign that I am working on soon.
On a larger scale and stuff that I was involved with but not directly, all of the Coke stuff going on with the Olympics is from our agency including the Torch relay. -
My day so far (it's way too early):
Got into lab:

Checked on rat brains I extracted yesterday. Success! They sunk to the bottom meaning they are fully fixed now.

Hooked up laptop:

Went to go put some rats in behavioural monitoring cages. Here are rats S1 and S2 posing for the camera:

After an hour I will give them all a shot of amphetamine and see if what I did previously changes how they respond to the drug.

Did you design that?
Really nice stuff...
-
I run my studio full time. It's not the best pay, but I love it, and I think that I can make my living off of it within the next 6 months.
-
I did design that! Thanks Fleamo, I appreciate the compliment.
-
Yo the guy from the Get Lich video just complimented you!
-
I do my own thangs with my fam and some peeps (printing, web-design/general designing, flash-animating/coding, etc.) and I do thangs not on my own under some peeps (art directing, "concepting", and designing), a lot of which I can't really post.
...but here is what I had sitting around my laptop, a bunch of everything I guess.
