I have seen a bunch of Iphone related threads recently, so I hope I'm no imposing too heavily to add another.
I'm wondering what rate plans you 905'ers are on, and in turn, what you are averaging for a monthly bill?
-
I know I'm getting completely bent over right now cause I haven't called in in over a year to see what kinda new deals they got going on. But my bill is consistently at $110 - $120. And I don't hold back whatsoever on usage. I call long distance, I text all day long, 3g data all over the place..... I really should look into updating my plan.
Things I know I have and am paying more to have them:
-visual voicemail
-my 5
-100 anytime long distance minutes
-free evening and weekends starting at 5pm
-6gigs data a month. -
i'm pretty much exactly in the same boat as mike smith, except i have 500mb data. i also don't hold back on useage, and should also probably look into updating my plan. i think my bills are somewhere around what hes paying too.
i've only ever gone over my data plan once, and they let you know when you are getting close/going over. the only reason i did that was because i was working at a store by myself with no wifi. go super bored so was just downloading tons of stupid shit. the next day i asked my boss if i could install my wireless router at work. never went over my 500mb since. -
i have
my 10
450 anytime minutes
free evening and weekends from 6pm to 7am
6 gigs
unlimited data
visual voicemail thing a jig90 a month

6 gig AND unlimited Data? wooow
I've got 300 anytime mins, voicemail, 2000 txt messages, caller ID and 1 gig of data for $55 a month after taxes. I pay $3 a month for a skype account that I can call anywhere in North America for free, I can even use the app on my iphone.

My bad, I clearly should have posted my carrier. I am with Rogers.

Did you have to pull some strings to get that rate or is that regular?
-
yo hades, post a pdf of your bill so I can take it when I negotiate a new deal.
-
Yeah I'd LOVE to be able to have something like that as back up! Block out any names numbers or adresses that would tell them it's you if ya like....

I have a blackberry but my bill is very similar (also with Rogers)
250 Daytime minutes
unlimited evenings and weekends (evenings at 9)
unlimited incoming
unlimited texts
call display
call waiting
voicemail
500mb databill is about 63ish a month.
The key is to call customer retentions and ask for things. When I upgraded to my newest blackberry (that I got for free by saying I needed it for work, which I actually did) I said I wanted to upgrade my data without paying any more per month. I had to call twice but eventually found somebody who was willing to help me. Persistence is key.
Unfortunately this only works with Rogers I believe as they have a dedicated Retentions department. They are the only ones that can give these deals.

Mattman makes a good point, being persistent really does help. I had a corporate phone with Bell before getting my iPhone, I never had a data plan or even a smartphone. At first Bell wanted me to accept there only contracts with the iPhone; faveb five, so many text messaging and local minutes, which I thought was a horrible plan for the phone. But after talking to like 3 different people I was able to negotiate a great deal with them. Now I get:
200 local minutes
unlimited incoming
unlimited weekend/holidays and evenings after 8
unlimited text messaging
call display/waiting
voicemail
1 gb of dataTotal bill, comes out be less than $80 a month
